Teach Conflict in Literature: Mini-Lesson
Class, Partner, Individual Activity
January 17, 2022
Use slides and a fun matching activity to teach the six types of conflicts.
Introduce the types of conflict with Conflict Teacher Slideshow. I like to link this slideshow as a resource to Google Classroom after we’ve moved through it so students can come back to it when needed. Note: There are bonus activities at the end of the slide show.
Paper: Create sets of conflict cards from the links below. Distribute conflict sets to groups or individual students. Challenge students to sort the cards into the correct categories onto the mats. Go over as a class. Conflict Cards | Conflict Mat
Google Classroom Link: Give all students in the class edit access to the Class Creation Slideshow. Students can choose one slide to create their own conflict scenario from one of the six categories and put the answer in the slide note section below their slide. (Note: all students will be in the same slideshow adding a slide.) An alternative would be to allow groups to work together to come up with a scenario and the groups add slides. Another alternative is to have individuals or groups come up with a scenario for all six types of conflict.
As a class, move through the student-created conflict scenarios on the class screen.
