I created a mini-lesson to teach and/or reinforce the types of conflict in literature. I used this lesson with my middle school students before we began the novel Hatchet and then we focused on the conflict Brian encounters while he is in the wilderness. Then I thought, "Why not?" and used the same lesson to introduce a short story unit with my high school students. Both groups loved it. 

The lesson is better as a two day lesson but if by eliminating some of the activities and/or if you have a small class, you many be able to get it done in one day. Click here for the lesson and all the resources.
