Am I a Boiled Frog?

Did I change or did they change?

My administrator used the phrase boiled frogs a couple of weeks ago. The idea is that if one were to put a frog in a boiling pot, it would jump out immediately. However, if one were to put the frog in a pot of room temperature water and then turn the heat on, the frog would stay in the pot and eventually die because it acclimated to the change in temperature.

When it comes to students, my administrator explained that we allow small behaviors a little more at a time until the behavior that would have been completely outrageous to us before barely makes a spark because we've allowed ourselves to get used to it.

Whether this analogy is true or not, it is an interesting concept and now I think I am a boiled frog in so, so, so many scenarios with relationships with work, personal life, and even myself. Boiled Frog meet Shattered Glass.
